Before we start, you’ll have to identify the ‘connection type’ of your address. If you don’t know it yet, simply enter your address on this webpage www.amaysim.com.au/home-internet/nbn and take note of your connection type (FTTP, FTTC, HFC, FTTN or FTTB).
Modem guide for FTTN and FTTB
- Connect your device to your modem using one of the 2 options described below:
a. Option 1: Wireless
Connect your device to your Home Network, also known as Home Wi-Fi. Your home doesn’t have Internet yet, but that’s ok, you can still access your Home Network. If you don’t know how to connect to your Home Network, follow this guide first.
b. Option 2: Wired
Plug an Ethernet cable (see the picture) from you to the back part of your modem.
- On your device, open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Edge), type http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinkmodem.net on the address bar, and press enter.
3. Login with your modem admin password.
⚠️ The admin password is not the same as your Home Wi-Fi password.
If you can’t remember it, we’ll help you below:
Can’t remember your admin password? You’ll have to factory reset your modem. Press the ‘Reset’ button (as shown in the screenshot) until the modem lights are off. Wait for about 2-3 minutes and go back to Step 1. Then, after reaching the login page, you’ll then ask to create a password, then click Let’s Get Started to log in. After successful login, the created password will be the admin password moving forward.
Be aware that when resetting your modem your Home Wi-Fi name & password with change to the default. You’ll be able to define a special name and password if you want on Step 8.
- On the top menu, click Quick Setup.

Select your Region and Time Zone.
- Region: Australia
- Time Zone: select your closets location
- Click Next.
- On ISP List select ‘Other’. Click Next.
- On Internet Connection Type select ‘Dynamic IP’. Click Next.
- On this screen you can define your Home Wi-Fi network name and password.
- Click Next if you are OK with default ones.
Note: Reconnect the Wi-Fi of the device that’s used for the configuration, as it would get disconnected from Wi-Fi if when the settings get applied. Especially if configuration has been done via Wi-Fi.
- After a few seconds you’ll see the screen below.
Click Finish.
- Check your connection:
Check that your internet connection is working properly by accessing www.google.com in your web browser.
Test your speed by typing www.speedtest.net in your web browser and click ‘GO’.
You are connected now to amaysim Home internet!

⚠️ Be aware that when resetting your modem your Home Wi-Fi name & password will change to default. You’ll be able to personalise the Wi-Fi name through the modem guidelines for Wi-Fi settings for TP-Link VR400.

- Since this modem is in DSL Router mode by default, you may go to Advanced > Operation Mode. Then select Wireless Router Mode and Save. A popup will show up advising router reboot will take place. Just click Yes.
ℹ️ This step can also be performed if reverting settings back to DSL Router Mode and then save. Then proceed with Modem guide for FTTN and FTTB.
Wait until router finishes rebooting.
- Relog in with the modem interface. Since the modem changed to Wireless Router Mode, you may go to Advanced > Network > Internet. Then Delete All profiles shown on the list, then click Add.
Keep in mind the following fields:
- Internet Connection Type: Dynamic IP
- IPV4: Enabled
- You may keep everything else by default, or
- Click on the Advanced Toggle to show more.
- MTU Size: 1500
- NAT: Enabled
- Do NOT Clone MAC Address must be selected.
- Then, click Save.
- Check the Connection:
Check that your internet connection is working properly by accessing www.google.com in your web browser. Test your speed by typing www.speedtest.net in your web browser and click ‘GO’.
You are connected now to amaysim Home internet!

Wi-Fi Settings Guide
Step 1

On your 💻 device, open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome , Safari , Edge), type http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinkmodem.net on the address bar, and press enter.

Step 4
Go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings.
Change the Network Name (SSID) field and/or Password then Click Save.
ℹ️ The step will differ when the modem version is 1 or 2 and if the smart connect function is toggled off. Smart connect prioritises devices to connect to Wi-Fi 5GHz if the device is Wi-Fi 5GHz capable.
May need to disable the function in some troubleshooting steps.
Step 5
Smart Connect toggled Off or No Smart connect.
Go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings.
Click which Wi-Fi band to personalize. Usually found upper right of the Wi-Fi settings present.
Change the Network Name (SSID) field and/or Password then Click Save.
