An amaysim eSIM lets you connect your phone to our network faster than ever before. But as with most things techy, things can get tricky. That’s why we’re here to help with tips on installation, activation and everything in between.
What is the best way to install an eSIM?
The best way to install an eSIM is via the amaysim app which can directly read your phone’s hardware and check eSIM compatibility while making it easier for us to know that you’ve successfully installed your eSIM.
My device should be eSIM compatible. Why can’t I install my eSIM?
Some devices purchased in certain regions may not have the eSIM functionality advertised for equivalent Australian phones. Devices from China, Hong Kong and Macau may not be built with necessary the eSIM hardware.
This means that even though a check via *#06#, following our eSIM compatibility steps, or the amaysim app may say the device is eSIM compatible, the hardware built-in software may not be present.
I’m having difficulty installing my eSIM. What’s the best way to do it?
The best way to install an eSIM is to first download and install the amaysim app on your phone (if you already haven’t) and follow the in-app instructions. You can also use My amaysim on your phone and scan the QR code.
Before you start an eSIM installation:
Ensure you are connected to strong private Wi-Fi
Do not hotspot or use public Wi-Fi
Do not let your device sleep or open another app during the installation process
Where do I find my eSIM QR code?
Your eSIM QR code will be displayed for you in My amaysim.
If you’re on your mobile device, download the amaysim app and follow the instructions for the app to begin the installation process for you.
You may need to complete some onboarding steps before you can install your eSIM like identity verification, porting in your number or fixing your payment method. You’ll then be able to install your eSIM.
Please note, you won't be able to change your plan, turn off auto-renew or cancel your plan until you've completed your installation.
If you’re having difficulty completing your eSIM installation, get in touch and we’ll be happy to assist you.
Why does my eSIM say ‘Optus’?
That’s because amaysim uses the Optus network and our eSIMs currently display Optus eSIM.
Why have I been taken out of the app for part of my eSIM installation?
When you install an eSIM, the device will take you to its installation process. The screens here will differ depending on operating system (Apple or Android) and your device brand and model.
As you follow the on-screen prompts to install your eSIM, you may be asked whether:
This eSIM is for home or a travel abroad
You will use it for data only or voice and data
Select using it at home and for voice and data.
If you have multiple eSIMs on your device and your device allows multiple eSIMs, you may also be asked which phone numbers you would like turned on.
Make sure you turn on the number belonging to your amaysim service.
