An amaysim eSIM lets you connect your phone to our network faster than ever before. But as with most things techy, things can get tricky. That’s why we’re here to help with tips on installation, activation and everything in between.
What should I do if I can’t connect to the amaysim network with my new eSIM?
There’s a few things you can do to get connected:
Check that your eSIM is activated in our app
Restart your device
Reset your network
iPhone
Settings › General › Transfer or Reset (Device)
Reset › Reset Network Settings.
For Android
Settings › Mobile/Cellular Data Network › Mobile/Cellular Data › Toggle Off > On
Settings › General › Reset Network Settings › Reset settings.
My eSIM looks like it’s installed but it isn’t working. What should I do?
There a few different reasons your eSIM might seem to be installed but is not working.
1. You may have onboarding steps to complete
If you’ve tried to install your eSIM from the QR code linked from your Welcome Email, you may have installed an eSIM that is not yet fully provisioned. If you’re yet to complete identity verification, fix a payment method or port in your number, your eSIM won’t function and may display a landline number.
In this case, delete your eSIM and order a replacement eSIM via My amaysim or the amaysim app.
2. eSIM may not enabled for voice and/or data or device is Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)
An eSIM might be correctly installed but may not be selected for voice and data or your device maybe Dual SIM Dual Standby.
3. Your eSIM installation may have failed
If the installation process is interrupted, e.g., you let your phone sleep, are on an unstable Wi-Fi connection or your swiped away from the installation process screen, your eSIM may not have installed correctly and will not work.
If you’ve tried to install a new eSIM to replace a broken one without first deleting the old eSIM, you will have a broken eSIM.
In these circumstances, delete your eSIM and request a new eSIM in the My amaysim or the amaysim app.
4. You may need to switch your active SIM
If your app is up to date and you’re still having trouble, it might be your phone’s SIM setup. Some phones can hold both a physical SIM and an eSIM (called Dual SIM Dual Standby or DSDS), while others can only use one SIM at a time.
Check your SIM settings to see if you have to switch your active SIM:
iPhone
Settings › Mobile Service (or Mobile Data).
Tap the plan you want to use and make sure Turn On This Line is switched on.
-
If you have more than one SIM, check which one is set for Mobile Data, Calls and Messages.
For DSDS phones, you can get calls and texts on both numbers, just not at the same time.
For single-SIM phones, only one plan can be active so make sure your eSIM is turned on.
Android
Settings › Network & Internet › SIMs (or Connections › SIM Manager on Samsung).
Make sure your eSIM is turned on or set as the Preferred SIM.
-
Choose which SIM to use for Mobile data, Calls and Messages.
On DSDS phones, both SIMs can stay active for calls and texts, but only one can use mobile data.
On single-SIM phones, you’ll need to select your eSIM as the active line.
What should I do if my iMessage isn’t working?
If you’re having difficulty using iMessage with your new eSIM, you can activate it manually following these simple steps:
Settings > Messages.
Toggle iMessage On.
Tap the Home Button to return to your home screen.
Important: You’ll need to have an Apple ID to use the iMessage feature. Don't have one? You can create on Apple ID via the Apple website.
What should I do if there’s an error when I activate my eSIM?
First of all, no need to panic. This stuff happens. In fact, here’s a list of error messages you may receive and what to do to fix them.
Something went wrong / eSIM download failed
Sounds scary but all you need to do is ensure you’re connected to a strong private Wi-Fi network then try again. Also, make sure you don’t let your device sleep or swipe away from the installation screen during the process.
Important: You only have 3 attempts to download your eSIM. Contact us to get a new eSIM if your first 3 attempts don’t work.
