If you'd like to transfer your amaysim mobile service (including your phone number) to another person, you can do this by completing a Change of Ownership form. This page explains how the process works, what you'll both need, and what to expect along the way.
Before you start
If you're the current account holder:
You'll need to complete and physically sign the Change of Ownership form
We'll contact you to verify your identity before the transfer can go ahead
Any credit remaining on your service or account will be forfeited and will not be transferred to the new owner
You'll remain responsible for all charges on the service until the transfer is complete
If you're the new account holder:
You'll need to be 14 or over with a valid form of ID
You'll take over full responsibility for the service once the transfer completes
How to transfer your service
Get the form. Log in to My amaysim or the amaysim app and head to the 'Personal details' section to download the Change of Ownership form.
Complete it together. Both the current and new account holder need to fill in and physically sign their sections.
Send it to us. Email the completed form to mnpsupport@amaysim.com.au
Verify your identity. We'll contact you to complete ID verification. This protects your number from being transferred without your permission.
We'll confirm the transfer. Once verification is complete, we'll process the transfer and let you both know when it's done.
Good to know
The mobile number stays with the service and moves to the new owner
If you'd like someone to act on your behalf, you can appoint an Advocate or Authorised Representative by completing an Authorised Representative form. We may also accept a Power of Attorney or Guardianship Order — you'll need to send a certified copy along with your form.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a Change of Ownership transfer take?
Once we receive the completed form and both parties have provided everything we need, the transfer can take up to 5 business days.
What happens to any credit remaining on the current service?
Any remaining credit on the current account or service will be forfeited and will not be transferred to the new owner. If you’re the current account holder, it’s worth using up any remaining credit before the transfer is completed.
What happens if the transfer is completed part way through a renewal period?
The new owner will start on the same plan price from day 1 of their renewal cycle once the transfer is complete. They’ll be responsible for any charges on the service from that point onwards.
What happens to the data bank?
Any data bank balance will be forfeited and will not be carried over to the new owner’s account or service. The new owner will start with the data included in the plan from their first renewal cycle.
Does the new owner keep the same plan?
Yes. The service will move to the new owner on the same plan. After the transfer is complete, the new owner can change plans at any time if they’d prefer a different option.
Who is responsible for charges while the transfer is being processed?
The current account holder remains responsible for the service and any charges until the transfer is complete. Once the transfer is completed, the new owner becomes responsible for the service.
Can someone complete the transfer on my behalf?
You can appoint an Advocate or Authorised Representative by completing an Authorised Representative form. We may also accept a Power of Attorney or Guardianship Order, but you’ll need to send us a certified copy with the Change of Ownership form.
