You just had a Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) service installed in your home. Now, it’s your turn to connect your modem/router to start using your service.
Before you begin, ensure that:
- You received an email from us confirming the completion of your HFC service installation.
-
You have a compatible NBN modem/router:
- it has a port labelled WAN,
- less than 5 years old, and
- it is Wi-Fi 6 version (recommended)
- You have an ethernet cable that is CAT5E, CAT6 or higher category.
- You have located your new NBN connection box and connected it to the NBN wall outlet.
Complete your equipment setup:
- Connect one end of the ethernet cable to the YELLOW port on your NBN connection box and the other end to the WAN port of your modem/router (RED port in the diagram).
- Ensure your NBN connection box and modem/router is connected to the power and switched on.
- Wait 10 minutes, then test your connection by visiting a website on your personal device. You’re online if the page loads successfully!
Still unable to get Internet on your modem/router?
Use this checklist to troubleshoot your connection:
- Ensure you use the NBN connection box at the address where you requested service. Using it elsewhere won’t work.
- All four lights on your NBN connection box must be solid green.
POWER LIGHT
Off: ensure your NBN connection box is correctly connected to power.
Green - flashing: your NBN connection box has an issue. Contact us.
DOWNSTREAM & UPSTREAM LIGHT
- Green - flashing: a firmware upgrade is in progress. Allow up to 10 minutes to complete and test your Internet connection again.
ONLINE LIGHT
Off: ensure the fixed white cable is properly connected to your NBN wall outlet and is not pinched, kinked, or bent. Contact us if the light doesn't turn solid green.
- Ensure your Ethernet cable connects correctly from the YELLOW port on the NBN connection box to the WAN port on your modem/router. Replace the cable if damaged.
- If you still can't connect to the Internet, you may need to manually configure your modem/router settings. This guide will assist you.
