If you’ve lost your device, the first thing you should do is try calling it from another number to see if anyone responds, and to ensure it’s still dialling correctly. If you have a device locator tool like Find my iPhone, you could also use this to try and locate your lost device.
If you’re unable to recover your device, or your device has been stolen, you should get in touch right away, so we can put a block on your SIM card.
Don’t forget to protect your personal data
If you use your device for things like mobile banking, email and social media, it’s vital you remove this device from your accounts or update your usernames and passwords using another device. This will help to protect you against data theft. It sucks enough losing your phone, so you don’t want to lose anything else!
You must contact the police if you’re making an insurance claim
You’ll need to provide your device’s IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number to file a report at your local police station. You won’t be able to make an insurance claim without doing this first.
It’s also possible to block your device itself
You can also use your device’s IMEI number to block it from being used with another SIM card. IMEI block requests can take up to 24 hours to be processed, but once complete, apply to all call carriers in Australia. Simply contact us to let us know that’s what you’d like to do, and we’ll get it sorted.
You can always unblock your IMEI should you recover your device later.
If you recover your device, we can unblock your SIM card or remove your IMEI block
Just contact us the same way by phone call or message us (or via email if out of hours) and we’ll remove the block immediately, so you can start using your SIM again just like before.
If you’ve purchased a new phone, you can keep your amaysim number by ordering a replacement SIM card.
