Before we start, you’ll have to identify the ‘connection type’ of your address. If you don’t know it yet, simply enter your address in this webpage www.amaysim.com.au/home-internet/nbn, and take note of your connection type (FTTP, FTTC, HFC, FTTN or FTTB).
Modem guide for FTTP, FTTC, and HFC
Step 1
Connect your 💻 device to your modem using one of the 2 options described below:
- Option 1: Wireless
Connect your 💻 device to your Home Network, also known as Home Wi-Fi. Your home doesn’t have Internet yet, but that’s ok, you can still access your Home Network. If you don’t know how to connect to your Home Network, follow this guide first.
- Option 2: Wired
Plug an Ethernet cable (see the picture) from you to the back part of your modem.
Step 2
On your 💻 device, open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Edge ), type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar, and press enter.
Step 3
Login with your modem admin password.
⚠️ The admin password is not the same as your Home Wi-Fi password. If you can’t remember it we’ll help you below.
Can’t remember your admin password? you’ll have to factory reset your modem. Press the ‘Reset’ button using a pin (as shown in the screenshot) for 10 seconds until the modem lights are off. Wait for 5 minutes and go back to Step 1.
⚠️ Be aware that when resetting your modem your Home Wi-Fi name & password with change to the default. You’ll be able to define a special name & password if you want on Step 7.
Step 4
Since this modem is in DSL mode by default, you may go to Advanced > Internet Settings > WAN Mode.
Then select Ethernet and Apply Changes.
A popup then will show up advising router needs rebooting to change WAN mode. Just click OK.
ℹ️ This step can also be performed if reverting settings back to DSL Mode and then save. Then proceed with, Modem guide for FTTN and FTTB.
Wait until router finishes rebooting
Step 5
Rejoin to the Wi-Fi if using Wi-Fi. Relog in with the modem interface.
Since the modem changed to Ethernet Mode, make sure that the LAN cable is plugged in to LAN 4 (4/WAN) port.
Keep in mind the following fields:
Link Type: Ethernet (Automatic)
Connection Type: IPoE
Step 6
On Address Mode: ‘Dynamic IP’.
Step 7
Scroll down ⬇️
Customer may or may not set up own Wi-Fi name and password.
Click on ‘OK’, then wait for the progress to complete.
⚠️Reconnect the Wi-Fi of the device that’s used for the configuration, as it would disconnect from Wi-Fi when the personalised Wi-Fi credentials are applied. Especially if configuration has been done via Wi-Fi.
Step 8
Once progress is completed, it will be back on this screen.
Scroll up and wait until Connection Status changes from ‘Unconfigured’ to ‘Connected’.
Step 9
Check the Connection:
Check that your internet connection is working properly by accessing www.google.com in your web browser.
Test your speed by typing www.speedtest.net in your web browser and click ‘GO’.
You are connected now to amaysim Home internet!

Modem guide for FTTN & FTTB
Step 1
Connect your 💻 device to your modem using one of the 2 options described below:
Option 1: Wireless
Connect your💻 device to your Home Network, also known as Home Wi-Fi. ⚠️Your home doesn’t have Internet yet, but that’s ok, you can still access your Home Network.
If you don’t know how to connect to your Home Network, follow this guide first.
Option 2: Wired

Step 2
On your 💻 device, open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome , Safari , Edge ), type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar, and press enter.
Step 3
Login with your modem admin password.

On the modem port image wait for DSL indicator to turn green.

Once DSL is green, wait until the Connection Type can be edited.

On Connection Type select ‘IPoE’. Click Next.

Click on ‘OK’, then wait for the progress to complete.
