Before we start, you’ll have to identify the ‘connection type’ of your address. If you don’t know it yet, simply enter your address on this webpage www.amaysim.com.au/home-internet/nbn and take note of your connection type (FTTP, FTTC, HFC, FTTN or FTTB).
Modem guide for FTTP, FTTC, and HFC
Step 1
Connect your 💻 device to your modem using one of the 2 options described below:
- Option 1: Wireless
Connect your 💻 device to your Home Network, also known as Home Wi-Fi. Your home doesn’t have Internet yet, but that’s ok, you can still access your Home Network. If you don’t know how to connect to your Home Network, follow this guide first.
- Option 2: Wired
Plug an Ethernet cable (see the picture) from you to the back part of your modem.
Step 2
On your device, open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Edge), type http://192.168.20.1 on the address bar, and press enter.
Step 3
Look for the admin details to access your modem:
- Login Username
- Login Password
Note: Credentials vary with each equipment. The EU may need to refer to the device label. The admin password is not the same as your Home Wi-Fi password.
Step 4
Follow the following:
- Click Internet on the top menu.
- Click WAN on the left menu.
- Click Ethernet on the screen.
- Remove any existing connections by clicking on the bin icon.
- Click Create New Item.
Step 5
Configure the following settings:
- Connection Name: amaysim
- Type: Routing
- Service List: INTERNET
- MTU: 1500
- Link Type: IP
- IP Version: IPv4
- IP Type: DHCP
- NAT: On
- VLAN: Off
- Click on Apply.
Turn your modem OFF for 10 seconds and turn it back ON. The power button is on one side of your modem.
Step 6
Check your connection:
- Check that your internet connection is working properly by accessing www.google.com in your web browser.
- Test your speed by typing www.speedtest.net in your web browser and click ‘GO’.

Modem guide for FTTN, FTTB
Step 1
Connect your device to your modem using one of the 2 options described below:

Connect your device to your Home Network, also known as Home Wi-Fi. Your home doesn’t have Internet yet, but that’s ok, you can still access your Home Network. If you don’t know how to connect to your Home Network, follow this guide first.
- Option 2: Wired

⚠️ Note: The admin password is not the same as your Home Wi-Fi password.

- Click DSL on the screen.

- Click Create New Item.
Step 5
Configure the following settings:
- Connection Name: amaysim (any name)
- DSL Transfer Mode: PTM
- Type: Routing
- Service List: INTERNET
- Link Type: IP
- IP Type: DHCP
- NAT: ON
- VLAN: Off
- Click on Apply.
Step 6
Check your connection:
- Check that your internet connection is working properly by accessing www.google.com in your web browser.
- Test your speed by typing www.speedtest.net in your web browser and click ‘GO’.
